Help me shop for a Kitchenaid

Totally! The mixer isn't really the most expensive part. Getting attachment after attachment (because they are just too hard to resist!) for years may set you back a bit....

Ive got to live a pretty pathetic life when I can get so excited about getting a mixer....with attachments!

I still cant get over the negative review I read on this machine when some guy turned it on and after running for 15 minutes it shut off. When he called Kitchenaid, they said it would turn off after 15 minutes so it wouldnt overheat. What in the world could he be mixing for 15 minutes, cement??

Love mine too! I have the blue steel color. Only thing I don't like about the 6qts is the limited colors choices (and all very 'industrial'). I would kill for some of the colors on the Artisans.

OP, I say hold out for a 6qt. High speed whipping sounds aweful, but the extra power is nice for bread doughs and less chance of wearing it out or damaging it with cookies, etc. I got mine from Bed Bath and Beyond using the 20% and a rebate which was the best price I found at the time.

Got the attachments for my 6 qt mixer yesterday. I'm so excited!! more toys to play with!!Can't wait to try out the shredder this weekend for all the Zucchini that we have right now. Going to make my famous "Zucchini Patties". They are the best and freeze really well.

Happy Mixing and Cooking.

Your zucchini patties are famous....and good! Id love to be able to freeze some, but they dont last long enough around here.

Ooooh, a shredder. I could shred cabbage and carrots for my wonderful eggsrolls, too...

halo you have to get the shredder attachment. We processed 8 cups of Zucchini in less than 15 minutes! Zucchini patties here we come

I got the three pack attachment pack from Amazon for $99.00. Meat grinder, shredder and fruit juicer. Now need to get sausage stuffer and we are good to go!

Happy cooking - off to farmer's market to see what they have and get a tamale for breakfast YUMMY

maybe one day soon I can use my new toy to shred them.

Good Golly Miss Molly!!!

I got my new toy a couple of days ago, but I havent had time to play with it. I finally got it out of the box today, set up, attachments figured out, so I figured, jump right in!

Well, Im trying Katys lighter than air rolls, because Ive made them before and it will give me a good comparison. The dough is rising right now, but I cant believe how easy it was, and how much better and smoother the dough turned out. I could use the dough hook and knead it for much longer (because the machine doesnt wear out like I do), and it made so much less mess. Cleaned up in no time. Im so excited to see how the rolls turn out.

I wuv my new toy!!!!

Cool! Keep us posted. Also, get this - went to the one and only gourmet cooking store in town and they have yet another attachment. A scraper beater for the mixing bowl. Just like the regular beater blade but there is a rubber scrapper along the edge. I told the gal I wanted one until I saw the price $45.00. Amazon has them for $28.35 - I see one in my future!!

Let me know how the zucchini patties were. Out to wash the car and then come in and cook the afternoon away. Going to be triple digit hot today!

Ill make the zuchini patties today. I did make them before, and they were just wonderful! I think dinner will be tasty zuchinni patties with a roll on the side.

I think the first attachment I will get is the shredder. Zuchini patties, egg rolls, maybe hash browns. Now you've got me checking Amazon for attachments, and I havent even paid for this toy yet.

aaaahhhhh, life is just so good.
