Help me solve a mystery.MIXED OPINIONS ON SILKIE 2

If he's a quiet boy he can stay. :-)

I'm still crossing my fingers he's a she. They are really the cutest together. If I separate them they both cry til they find each other. I took one today to take her pic and had to put her back cause the noise was terrible like a car honking over and over. Soon as I got the other and put them together. No noise.

I dont think my neighbours would be very friendly if I kept a loud bird but it seems the jury is out on the silkie sex anyway :-) :-)

I don't know about the Silkies but Chick #1 looks to be a little boy. Is he a bantam? He almost looks like a D'Uccle cross. Where did he come from?

I have no idea on the silkies

but chickie #1 does look like a boy. No idea on the breed though, perhaps a mix?

He came from the breeder I got my bantam orpingtons, He looked like a penguin when he was a baby and hes definatly not a bantam hes twice the size of the bantams Ive got. She did tell me what he was but I cant remember. She was a farmer who seperated all her breeds so unless there was a slip Id be surprised if hes a mix. He looks like my black rocks but has a gorgeous blue tint to his/her feathers and feathered feet.

Ive been outside today playing rooster noises to them in hope of one crowing back as someone reecommended. no luck so now Im wondering if its an old wives tail.

Im beginning to doubt I even heard a crow now.

They are more sticky up and out than the other but silkie 1 is the most timid chicken I've got. If that's a roo then it's not going to protect it's flock very well. Ha ha. I let them free range but she hardly leaves the coop. She tweeds like a budgie and the other sounds like a duck.

Silkies are so hard to figure out until they start to crow! How old are they now? I had one silkie roo that was the most sweet and gentle little guy that I was so sure it was a she. WELL, that all changed when his hormones kicked in! He became the most ruthless roo I had and he was originally the most sweetest of the roos when he was young! When he got older, He flogged me several times a day and would only let me hold him when HE was ready to be lifted on the perch!.

Ive heard that silkie boys are quite quiet, how quiet was yours?

If I do have a roo and he doesnt bother the neighbours he can stay.

Chickie 1 is clearly a boy and Ive checked with the breeder who gave me the eggs and hes a copper maran.
