help me understand what i did wrong...

Remember, it's not the amount of water that changes the humidity, it's the surface area. If you need higher humidity, you need a larger water container with more surface area.

it's the same container as the first time... almost same setup, other than the new fan... but it shouldn't affect my humidity that bad, unless it wasn't true relative humidity the first time... maybe the humidity was all on the top...?

it only leaks in one spot now... but i'm tripping over the fact that it wasn't losing humidity the first time i used it... it was perfect really... but the air circulation wasn't that great... it has two huge vents too... two 1/2" holes on the top, and a small one on the bottom...

Other than a possible sealing issue I am bumfuddled. lol. Maybe the air is moving too much? Like the second fan is forcing too much air motion in the entire set up. I'm trying to visualize it as you explain it.

yeah, i'm tripping out too... not stressing over it, but i wish i knew what changed so much... but even with a lot more airflow, it shouldn't affect the relative humidity that bad... right...? the percentage of water in the air in the unit should be the same no matter what the air flow is like... i think... LOL...

no... it's on the bottom, blowing towards the front to the door, lifting the cool air up, and hot air down... the temp is perfect all over the unit now... but it's just the humidity now... weird...

AH HA!!! Good thought.... so is it?

edited to make sense to all the voices in my head.

LOL... okay... hold on...

okay...

two giant fans blowing two 40W bulbs with ceramic thingies...

here it is taped up, with cardboard with several layers of aluminum foil on the other side...

here's close up of the container that holds the water... the air blows directly over it... you can see the water moving a bit... there's also a pipe showing how i fill it up...

i added a cheapie fan like this one on the bottom of the incubator... just laying there pointing at the door.. not at the vents, but just at the door blowing the cold air up and around the two turning racks...

and that's it... 4 days ago, it was fine... now, with the fan, it's very very low...

should i still try to raise it up to40-45%..? or leave it at30-35%...?

I'm going to venture a guess that because you had a thermal layering problem that is now fixed an because humidity is relative to the temp of the air then you also had a humidity layering problem too that is also now fixed...

Now, my head hurts... Nap time...

yeah... after reading this thread and stuff, i came to the same conclusion... i should've figured it out before i put eggs in it... but we live, we learn amirite..? plus, these are my hens and neighbor's eggs... i think my next hatch is going to be some high end chickens... so i guess fridge-a-bator 2.0 is not going to be it's final design...

thanks everyone...

but...

should i leave it at 30-35% humidity...? or raise it up...¿

thanks um... rebel... (i don't know your real name... don't like calling people by there usernames...)

you've been a great help on my hatching journey... what would we do without you...?¿
