I need plans for a brooder that can hold 25 chicks for about 5 weeks. It can be made out of cardboard......anything really idc. I just need to get it done by May 17 (my chicks come)! If you want to see the birds look at my sig. They are all bantams except the Ameraucanas.

You are going to need a pretty big brooder to hold them for 5 weeks. You can start out with a large rubbermaid plastic bin, but they quickly outgrow that. I start with that, then put them in a 4'x4'x2'H brooder and even then, I have to thin that down to no more than 12 by five weeks and even more by the time they are 7 weeks. Your best bet is probably a 5-6ft diameter kids plastic swimming pool with a wire top for the first couple of weeks, then a wire wall around it for the rest of the time. This is assuming they will be kept indoors the whole time. Just make sure the floor is covered with something grippy, like paper towels (not newspaper) the first few days, then a good layer of pine shavings so they don't slip around on the plastic floor and injure themselves.

Thanks I will be thinning as I go! I only want seven. I think I will have to wait a while with silkies cuz they dont grow as fast. I want 2 silkies, 2 ameraucanas, 2 black frizzle cochin (bantams), and 1 black cochin (bantam). How long do you think I will have to wait with the other breeds? Around 3-5 weeks maybe? I got some materials and will be working on it this week. If I get a broody do you think she could be in there even if it don't have a run type thing? Can't you tell im new?
