I am so unsure of this guy/girls gender.

No crowing other his/her age are crowing Is about 8 months old now.

As soon as I saw a sign of a comb growing I thought straight off roo.

BUT today I saw the other roo in the pen mount him/her and do his do????? I am so confused.

He/she is the one in the back in this pic.

I was planning on rehomeing this guy if it was a roo because he is not breeding quality but if it is a she then I'd like to keep her as a broody.

Plz help me out??

I have the same problem! The one I have left could be either, but I lean toward roo. Longer neck, bigger than the others but not heavy like the other roo, small but noticable comb, and acts like a hen sometimes and a roo sometimes. Mine is younger than yours.

Hope someone else can answer.

I got about 12 silkies form a lady a while back, they were grown mostly. Some of the hens had small straight combs like yours....I had a little hen i thought was a roo a while back because of her big red comb...i changed my mind when i saw the roo mount her. Hope it's just a "comby" girl!!

I am pretty confident that the one in the back in the first picture is a pullet. The shape of the tail and the lack of any hard feathers in the tail is what I am basing my opinion on.

I agree, pullet. By eight months you should see more hackle feathers and maybe a longer neck, swept back longer feathers on the head

thanks everyone for the replys...I was so confused on this one.

Thank you to everyone!!!!!

This girl then is gonna make me a very nice pet quality broody.
I'm glad too because this girl has a wonderful personality!
