I went to Tractor Supply, and they gave me this bird for free. They said she is about 3 weeks old, maybe 4, and they think she was accidentally placed in the wrong brooder with the white Leghorn chicks that they received. They suspect she might be a meat bird because of her size and the thickness of her legs. What do y’all think? Help!

Hard to tell, especially with the red tint lighting,,, But something to think about. A meat-bird at 3 weeks old would probably be larger already. I am judging size compared to water container,,
Post a side by side of your other chicks next to this one.

WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and :welcome

My chicks are brand new today and still drying in the incubator. I would say she's three times the size of week-old ducklings and 4 times the size of my chicks that hatched today. She has peach-colored legs. She just keeps eating and eating.

Well,, yes, nice size at 3 weeks. They can live up to one year if you restrict their diet. You can also choose to process chicken, since they are here to feed us. Or offer her when somewhat grown to a needy family, to supplement their grocery needs.

Thanks, guys! I also think they are a Cornish X. She is sweet! I'm sad she will have to be culled. 💔
