Hey there everyone, just decided to get chickens! I am planning on getting two plymouth rocks and two stars. Definitely looking forward to the experience of having chickens in my suburban backyard. One major problem: I live in Arizona. I know that it's possible to have healthy chickens in the heat, but I'm on a budget and buying a 'build a coop guide' is not part of it. So I was wondering if anyone had any tips for building a chicken coop that will keep my chickens cool and happy. Thanks for taking your time and helping!

Definitely look at the coops in the coop design page. The other resource I always recommend are the coop plans at www.thegardencoop.com. They offer a smaller coop and a full size coop. The plans are very comprehensive and are step by step so even a novice can make a great looking coop. A lot of people on here have built warm weather coops so you should see some good examples in the coop section. Good luck.

Hi from Flagstaff!
We have totally different coop requirements here. If you go to the Were Am I/Where Are you topic there is an AZ Chickens thread-seems like most of those folks are in the desert so you could see what they do.

I guess coop advice from Seattle is not what you are looking for.
