So long story short the island that i live on in hawaii has 100's if not thousands of wild chickens. its a good story but for another time, and obviously i have chickens, or i wouldnt be here all the time
so any how i caught this wild rooster in my chicken trap that i got from the dump
and was testing it out when i caught this guy - so i kept him for a few days while i decided if i wanted him. he is really pretty but his comb is sort of funny and he has a really short body i noticed and decided to let him out... needless to say, he now wont leave!
which would be fine, because we have another young rooster that hangs in the yard, but he runs away from me. the rooster i caught has charged me from across the yard
and jumped up in the kids room window sill to try to get me through the screen! after he charged me i went put my boots on (i was in slippa's -aka flip flops, at the time when he charged - so i ran - he's scary -lol
) and chased him out of the yard with the hose on until he ran out our dead end street, across the main road into the woods on the other side. and im not normally scared of he wild roosters - their everywhere! but he freaks me out. then he came back the next day (which was 2 days ago now) and my DH chased him out across the street. so yesterday i went to work, then this morning i went out, fed the birds, went back in the house and a bit later i heard the crow! looked out by the coop and he's up on the side of it!!
now i dont even want to go outside - and its actually overcasts today so its a lot cooler out.
so what do i do now?? i need him out of the yard and DH is working a double today and wont be home for hours and its only 2 in the afternoon here - with 6 hours a daylight to go! should i just go and chase him out again? and when is he finally going to get that he's not wanted!! i wanted to let my banty cochins out to freerange today in the afternoon - now what?! and the thing im most worried about is my 4yr old daughter who wants to play and run outside? what if he attack her? ill be so upset!
i love that we have wild chickens here, but this one is very aggressive and i have small children.
im freaking out. any words of wisdom would be so helpful. the thing is i have roosters of my own already and have had in the past and even when they tried to flog me i had no trouble doing some
butt kicking. but this one freaks me out. should i try to get him in the trap again and then drive him somewhere away from the house and let him go out there so he wont be able to come right back and what if i cant catch him again and chasing him out of the yard to the woods across the street only works for 24 hours and he keeps coming back??!!
