Help!! Missing duck

Hi,
Lastnight we rescued a shrinkwrapped duck that was in duck coop, we brought back outside and mother finished getting him/her out and we put it back in the nest and mother and another female immediately sat on it..this morning it is gone.Missing no signs of predators.Any ideas of what went wrong.Everyone seemed fine when we left and closed them up.I even checked again before I went to bed.

I hate to say this, but it most likely died or got killed and something ate it. Could have been another duck or a rat or something else.
