Mites love hiding in nestboxes and under roosts. I painted both of these places with neem oil (half neem, half water) and I now regularly run my hand under the roosts to check for signs they are multiplying again. DE doesn't work - I know from firsthand experience.
There's a breeder in my country who mixes her own mite powder. It contains flowers of sulphur, rotenone, neem, and DE. That has worked wonders in the coop, though it is expensive. If you could process/grind some neem granules that could help and flowers of sulphur is generally available in farm stores.
