Help! Molt in winter???

One other thing, molting chickens are feverish and sore. If you wish to make your hens and roosters

afraid of you and dread you picking them up, by all means catch them or pick them up while they are molting.

This will condition them to run away from you.

Very true! The pinfeathers are very sensitive!

She seems fine, but we have a much warmer climate. Make sure to try to keep her warm.
Rule 1# Don't glue her feather back together!!

Hi everyone. My girl started going thru a molt two weeks ago. It's only 12 degrees tonight and when I went to close up the coop I noticed she was the only one not on the roost. She jumped trying to get on it but couldn't make it up there. Help what do I do!

I have 4 of my 6 going through one too. A month ago another bird did this same thing and I just leaned a couple boards on the floor of the coop. Where she could snuggle under to retain some heat. She ended up dying and I'm not sure if it was because temps drastically dropped(30s to -10s) while she was basically naked. And she was getting plenty of picking on from the others
