Help! Mosquitoes are carrying my goats away!

The mosquitos dont seem to bother our goats. But whend we had the horse i used to put DE on her back and legs that helped alot. I also gave her some each day mixed with her grain I believe it was a `1/2 cup it stopped the flies from bothering her try to put some DE on the goats and see if that helps. PS> It should help the dogs too.

I started feeding my horse and goat Garlic yesterday - they didn't even NOTICE it was in their food....

And I never knew the darn goat could BURP - STINKY!!!!

Tempo Insect. works great for controlling the mosquito population. Initially it may seem pricey but it doesnt take alot per gal of water to do the job. Spraying around the perimeter of your pens would be safe for your goats and other pets.

It has been proven safe to use in the house (but I dont do that) I also dont use it inside where my animals/pets are.

(downfall is it kills lots of bugs, even the good ones)

i used to use Avon Skin So Soft oil on my horse to keep flies away, the original scent. Not sure what that scent is but it kept them away and was safe.

if you are going to go with a 'horse' fly spray I would reccomend Tri-Tec 14. It is the best one I have found. I have a horse with fly allergies that hates to be sprayed and Tri-Tec will last anywhere from 7-10 days if your animals don't sweat a lot.

It is pricey. But it is worth it.

I'm really surprised we haven't had more mosquito problems this year. They appear to be sticking to night time activity only. The fly spray I use is from a local co-op, Bronco brand. It's for horses, but works pretty well on goats. It's made with Pyrethrins, so it should help with mosquitoes. They do not like being sprayed. It's even harder than with horses. I try to get everyone's face first. Just spray it on your hand and wipe it over their faces.

Thanks everyone that gives me some great ideas. Thanks for the recipe too.
