Help - Muscovy hen died suddenly!

Oh thanks! I didn’t realize there is also a disposal fee. I don’t think the $50 is worth it to us... We will just have to wait and see if it happens to any of our other ducks in the meantime. Thank you so much for the information though, that is really useful and good to know.
Call them and see if there is any wiggle room in the price. I say this because I've had UC Davis waive a few of mine (peafowl aren't covered in the "backyard flock necropsy" option, they're $120 each. Someone also said Purdue waived their fees.

One thing I’d defiently do is keep them home by clipping wings, letting out birds roam they can get into poison accidentally or someone doing it on purpose. Very sorry for your loss.
Yes!! Very good point. We've been trying to catch them to clip their wings and have gotten a few, but they're now very wary when they see the net come out, which makes it even harder. Our own fault - should have done it when they were younger! Now we know :(

If you have a house for them garage etc put down food then wait. Sooner or later some will scope it out then close their way out and get those clipped. Then set the bait again till done.

They forgive quickly. The three we have had to cut flight feathers on ignore us for a few hours after we do it, then resume the normal doggy-like begging and loving on us later. In the long run, they are better at home.
