Help My 2 Month old Baby Goat has the Scours

My baby goats has bad diarrea she is eating but she is not like my other baby goats she does not jump around and play and yell she just sits around in the hay box could this be from eating to much grain? its getting all over the back of her it's filthy plz help

There some blue bolus you can get at the feed store that help.
And the vet would have a shot plus some antiobics that you need to give her too.

I would call the vet immediately. If it's really bad, waiting till morning could be too late. Maybe your vet will tell you what to give her over the phone - I know my vet is good about that.

You can give a teaspoon of Pepto or Kaopectate (sp) and also give some hay

I have raised quite a few babies and this works great on them.

How much grain are you feeding her? Is she bottle fed? What else does she eat? Does she have a temp? What color is her poop?

this happened with my goats a couple years ago and it was because we gave them to much oats so we gave them less

STOP PANICKING PEOPLE!

Best thing you can do with livestock is practice benign negligence - things like scours and runny noses arent necessarily a problem if the animal is happy, eating, playing and in all other regards acting normal.

Giving antibiotics willy nilly is how we end up with resistant pathogens. A weaned 2 month old with a scour is a different kettle of fish to a baby kid still on the bottle, with scours.

Now, before you start giving her everything under the sun, first restrict her grain and alfalfa, and give her good rough hay or straw - a cereal or grass hay. You can give the probiotics also if you want to.

Now, if that doesnt clear up the scour, or if she starts to act sick or goes off her food, you need to treat her, my drug of choice is Triprim or Trisoprim, any sulfanomide will do the trick. Follow it up with probiotics but dont do the both together, you'll just waste your probiotics.

Supportive therapy throughout - electrolytes in the drinking water, and forced fluid therapy if needed.

It is from too much grain. Give her some hay (no grain today) and some yogurt. It will help rebuild her ruman. You can give her some grain tomorrow, but use more hay than grain. You have to be careful of overgraining.
If the scours don't clear up, you might have to get a PennG injection for her. Since you are feeding a lot of grain a CD-T would also be a good idea.
