I recently received an incubator and egg turner. The egg turner sounds likes its working, but my eggs have not moved from the same spot. I have checked every hour, still no change. I think the arm that connects to the motor is missing a piece. I'm on day two, I may have to just turn the eggs by hand, hope I haven't messed up the eggs if I have to take out the turner and turn by hand. Any suggestions or help?

I've had the same problem a couple times, sometimes the gears in the telescopic clock motor wear out. I've also read if there's not enough power it won't work as well. I've bought a couple replacements on ebay. I'd turn them by hand until you get a replacement motor or find another solution

Thank you very much. I thought I was missing a piece from the motor to the piece that the trays fit into to? I am now looking forward to turning eggs everyday until new turner. thanks!!

Welcome!

I'm glad you joined the BYC flock.

Is the turner supposed to roll the eggs from side to side, or is it supposed to tip them? It looks like the tipping kind from the photo. If that is the case, it may actually be turning. Those turners move very slowly and gradually tilt the eggs from one side of the other, throughout the day. You'll sometimes barely notice them moving.

Of course, it is also possible that the turner is broken, in which case I'm not sure how to fix it. You may get some more help in the Incubating and Hatching eggs section: Incubating & Hatching Eggs

Thank you! I have decided to just turn them by hand, and have my turner looked at. I hope I have a successful hatch this is my first time using an incubator. :) I am planning on placing the incubator in the classroom if I am successful this round. :) So excited!!!

I have that same turner. You are missing the piece from the motor that goes in the channel. My piece had jumped or was knocked out of the channel and pressing on the outside of the channel. Made the right sounds but no movement. Lucky for me, I had just set the eggs and got if fixed right away. Is the piece in the incubator, maybe under the eggs? Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you! I knew it was missing something! Unfortunately there is no piece.. But I am enjoying hand turning the eggs for now.

Looks like you are missing the clip that joins the motor to the turning rack. One of mine popped out of the groove it lives in. Not sure you may be able to purchase one as a spare part?
