Help! My Broody Hen is Dying!

My wife and I are so sorry for your loss... Having recently lost our beloved rooster Anthony we understand...

John 14 1-4

Jesus Comforts His Desciples

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

Thank you for all the Hugs and the bator plans. How long can the eggs be cool. I candled them but it is hard to tell if they are good.

Perhaps you could put them in your bra to keep them warm while you make a bator.

I think that is a great idea if there are only a few... I would SOOOO try it!

I think the idea of putting the eggs in your bra wasn't crazy at all, it's a good way to keep them warm with your body heat until you can get a incubator made for them!

They may have been cool to long now but I'll put them in the booder with the babys until i can rig something up.

If they don't cool down too much and for too long they very well may be alright. It could slow them down by a day or two on hatching, though. People have had long power outages, etc. during incubation. I would find a way to keep them warm (heat lamp, lowest oven setting, etc.) until you can get a bator made and I bet they will survive. Good luck and I am so sorry about your hen.

Oops, I somehow missed you had them in the brooder. That should work.

Maybe you could put them in a little plastic container with holes punched in the lid and put a damp paper towel around the edges of the inside with the eggs in the center. Make sure the temps in the container (in the brooder) are 99-100 keeping them in the container with a damp towel in there but not touching the eggs should create the humidity they need and keep the eggs safe from being trampled by the other chicks. What day are they on? If this method works don't forget to turn the eggs at least 3 times a day

i hope they make it even tho it may already be too late it doesn't hurt to try
