My button just had babies and dad keeps trying to peck at the babies around momma and I do not know if I should leave dad in the cage. Momma and dad were fighting and I went to see what the problem was and realized she had babies. What should I do to help either momma, daddy or babies or should I leave them alone. When momma and daddy were fighting in the main part of the cage, the baby came waddling out, and I blew air on daddy and he calmed down and momma went back into her corner and baby went too, but daddy keeps trying to peck at the babies under her wings. Any ideas?

Well now what do I do with daddy? I can put him in a cage by himself or I have another gal who is in with 2 other males (as all the rest of mine are in pairs) who was with some others but she kept bullying them and pulling out their feathers (I have one odd bird), so she doesn't pull out the boys feathers, but because the boys have been so long by themselves, they really don't pay any attention to her and she stays and sleeps by herself. Can I put daddy with her and then later will he go back to momma? Or do I leave daddy in a cage by himself and let him and momma cry back and forth to each other like they are doing right now since daddy is out of the cage? Or if I put daddy with this gal will he just start liking her and then momma is plum out of luck? Help...the button days of our lives begins.....

I also should note that daddy was VERY protective of momma while she was sitting on the eggs and even when momma got off the eggs daddy would fight with her until she went back to the eggs, and everytime you tried to do anything in the cage he would attack you. He did not want you to mess with momma or her eggs. Once I realized this I left her alone. I use to take the eggs out. Then I left them alone and he would quit attacking me, but would still stand all puffed out walking back and forth like he was on guard of momma. So will he really hurt the chicks or could he just be trying to see them? He even once when I was taking the eggs flew up and attacked me in the nose. I love the little guy, even when momma was sitting on the eggs he would take momma meal worms and give them to her. Momma is crying for him and he crys back...so sad
