Well it was a cold late night (9pm) when both my chicks (both 3 weeks old) were in my wandering around in the house in perfect condition, when one of my chick made a weird sound, i picked her up and she still made that voice, i thought it will get better, so i let her down. 15 minutes later it got even louder and the chick started to act weird like something was stuck in her throat, i think she tried to vomit it out, i think it was troubling her breathing, i tried to comfort her but it started getting even worse, she started jumping (like she was badly hurt), i didn't not know what to do, it was late to take her to the vet.
Me and my mom tried a lot to make her feel better by covering her with blankets. something i noticed was, whenever i gave her clean water she got worse (jumping etc.)

She is one of my favourite, i raised her from day 1, i couldn't bear her pain so i stayed up all night making her feel better, by morning she felt much better.

She stopped jumping and didnt try to vomit. But now she is very weak and mostly close her eyes and stands on her feet. I gave her food and water but she isn't drinking/eating it, i noticed that she is trying to eat the baby chicken food but she cant seem to get it in her mouth for some reason. I read a lot of articles on this, so far the olive oil has helped a bit on her throat but i dont have the eye dropper so i don't really know how much spoons/teaspoons to give her. i have to forcefully feed her, i tried mixing the food with water to make it easier for her, but it didn't help.

So far she is ok, but if she goes for too long i don't think she will make it...

Please tell me what i have to do to treat her, i really want her to live.

Sorry for making it too long, i just wanted to make it detailed for you guys to get it better,
and sorry for my bad english.

thanks.

If she was wandering around the house, she may have picked something off the floor and swallowed it. It may be stuck. I don't have any advice, it was just a thought.

can you feel anything (not food) in her crop.. anything hard or oddly shaped?

so, if you sit her on your lap facing away from you then run your fingers down her neck, for the most part the throat sits slightly to the right and so does the crop, knead it gently with your fingers and see if you can feel anything unusual in there. chances are she swallowed something and now you need to locate it, if it is still in the crop sometimes a vet can work it up then using the bent tweezers pull it out but if it has passed the crop then you give them the oil and hope she passes it, if you have force fed her then ask yourself how much feces she has expelled, and its consistency, you need to deduct whether the possible object has caused a blockage.

umm so far i cant feel anything in her crop except her bone. il try take her to the vet tomorrow.

for now do you think its okay for my other chick to be with her, just incase she has some sort of illness. but from how i see it i don't think she does because she was perfect and it suddenly happened.

anyway if you have any advice on feeding her or what else i can give her that she will eat, because i feel she is going to break down soon if she doesn't eat :(

i do think there is some kind of blockage but if i massage on the neck she can eat better

and her poop seems normal too after forcefully feeding her

hey,
so your looking for unusual colours in the poop, any red or dark black in the green bits or yellow or green in the usually white bits.. that is indicitve of a few different things. like you i think it came on too quickly to be an illness so it is probably safe but nothing is 100percent so use your own judgment.. if you feel she is calmer with her friend then i would leave them together. try soft foods that she likes, when i get sick chickens i break out the boiled or scrambled egg in very small bits or even a little tinned tuna or salmon, but not too much, just enough to keep them going.. keep the fluids up, a little bit often, keep her warm so the energy expenditure is low.. (if the object is still in throat or crop, that isnt great but if it has caused a blokage in her intestine that is worse, plump normal coloured poo means it is still further up) if you can take her to the vet, (preferably one who likes birds:)
very best of luck,
if you run in to trouble feel free to get in touch.
best of luck:)
olive.
(she can last a few days without food if she has too just keep the fluids up, once again, a little often:)

p.s theres also a small chance she ate a nasty poisonous bug that bit her.. unlikely but possible..hope it turns out ok:)

well so far its been 4 days

she is doing great but she still cant drink, her spit somehow gets in the water.
Eatting is not that great but she can eat..

Main thing is yesterday i saw her throat getting bigger, like a small ball, it seems that when i touch it her tongue is moving along with it, so i thought it might be sore.
today i noticed it got a little bigger.

i couldn't take her to the vet since the vets in my place dont treat chickens

and ideas on getting the ball back to its normal size

so far iv been feeding her boiled/srumbled egg which she loves.

iv noticed a lot of improvement, personally i think its not enough since her voice is not back to normal and she does't drink that much

other than that she looks a lot more active..

thanks
