Hello!
I have a 14 week old Americauna female chick...I was putting everyone in their house for bed and heard this ruckus, I turned and my chicken was convulsing/flapping all over the place(for lack of a better visual example..like when a bird is hit by a car) and then stopped and went stiff and then repeated. We brought her in and her comb, back crease of her mouth and around her eyes was extremely red. She’s is ok now, responsive, eating, pooped and chirping.
Any ideas on what this could be or why??
It was very scary for me I can only imagine for her :(

Have pictures, or video of the bird in question?

A vitamin deficiency can cause seizures sometimes.

Neurological disorders, & brain damage can trigger seizures too.

I would keep a very close eye on her. Is it hot where you live? Is she taking plenty of water? Was she vaccinated for Mareks disease? Vitamin E 400 IU is a safe treatment for neurological symptoms. Look for evidence of a head injury, and make sure that she is not dehydrated. Shade and shaded water is very important. Make sure that she hasn’t eaten anything that might be toxic.

Update: she can stand but is very wobbly and when she tries to walk falls over...I do not see any signs that are visible of a head injury, they have constant shade and water and their house is air conditioned to an appropriate temperature since I live in a hotter climate. She has no been vaccinated. She was completely fine all day and previously.
