I took my chicken to the vet today, she had X-rays done, and their is a 1.5" nail in her stomach. I called 2 vet hospitals and they both said the surgery will be at least $1,000 and that the risk of operating is very high and she won't likely make it if they cut her open. Has anyone else had this happen? Is their a way for me to get it out on my own? Call me crazy but I'm really tempted to stick a strong magnet to her butt. I'm just worried it will rip through tissue in the process and kill her. She can't eat solid foods and her crop is starting to back up so I'm on a limited timeline here.
