I didn't do a necropsy, we just buried her.
It did cross my mind, but I don't think I would have been able to figure out what killed her and I don't know the internal anatomy of a chicken. (I went to nursing school, but we only disected mammals, which are nothing like chickens).
I was also afraid of potentially spreading the disease more if her insides were made airborne.
And I just wanted her to rest.
I've never process a chicken, nor do I eat meat, so I'm not one for cutting up animals even if it is for science.
I do have two more chickens with coughs that I am very concerned about, one of which has diarhea as well.
