help---my chickens are crawling with mites and so am I

Seriously though, when I "quick clean" inside their house, I always wear 2 masks, plastic disposable gloves and glasses (broke my goggles.) I also wear "chickens clothes and shoes." You should do the same thing if you use DE.

when mine got mites and i got them too, too. i just put dust all around thier pen and dunked them in a liquid one with some water. not the heads though. they were gone within bout 1-2 days.

I quite using the dust because of that problem. I use Permethrin 10% spray now. I mix it up in a pump sprayer and go around at night and spray the birds down, they don't mind and I don't end up covered in dust. It can also be mixed in a higher concentration for use in the run/coop/roosts, etc.
