I wasn't sure what was going on, one had a cakey butt and the runs and I saw her poop out a bunch of worms today! Looks like most likely round worms, they are not flat.. She is now in isolation but some of the others are getting orangey runs now too! What can we do? I give them diatemacous earth and am trying to get garlic in them today which is a bit tricky they don't seem to like it at all! Help these are "pet" chickens and very well loved! We just switched them to a new run and they have a clean coop. Not sure where this may have come from, except the insane feril cat population! Also do I need to keep the kids away form the chickens now? Is it better to get rid of the very infested bird and treat the others? One more question, are the eggs still safe to eat from chickens with worms? The infested chickens egg had a bit of a ridge around it today

DE, garlic, Vermex, pumpkin seeds etc..are not going to get rid of worms if you have an infestation. So don't bother trying to get them to eat garlic. You need to get them ALL on a worming program ASAP, if one has bad worms, the others will have some level of worms also. I would start with Wazine in the water--the post below will tell you why. Whether or not to eat the eggs is moot, as you will have to toss eggs for at least 2 weeks (don't feed them back to hens or to other animals). I doubt the worms have anything to do with the cats, they are species specific.

Please don't mess around with "organic" wormers, a bad infestation can kill a chicken. No need to separate out the one hen, as you will treat them all. Here is a very helpful thread:
