HELP!! My chickens keep laying rubber eggs!! Need advice.

My young chickens started laying nicely. Normal eggs in the laying boxes but now I am getting more rubber super thin eggs than regular ones. I am giving them lay feed and even putting oyster shell in the food to help but I am still getting these. One thing is it has been super hot here so not sure if this is affecting them. Can that cause these eggs? Since they are new layers could I have one that just has something wrong with it and will always lay these eggs that are always broken as they are so thin. Will this work itself out. It has been happening for about a week now.

Yes they just started about three to four weeks ago and I think maybe I was giving too many extras like scraps and treats like fruit. I cut back and it seems better the last two days. Two of the hens haven't layed in two days as it has been so hot but the others have layed nice firm eggs. Any other things you can suggest would be great. They have a coop and long run but they spend a lot of the day just roaming my back yard. They do seem to eat a lot of grass.

I had a similar problem, super hot here, chickens drinking like crazy, had layer pellets, fresh h2o, and oyster shells, free choice, they are new pullets not yet 20 weeks laying rubbery malformed eggs. I added a daily feeding of layer pellets(2cups) mixed with a cup of plain yogurt in a dog dish, and filled their quart jar chick waterer with electrolytes. I figured protien, calcium, and electrolytes is a good treat! Within a few days i'm getting nice hard shelled eggs. Granted this could be just the pullets maturing and working out the kinks, but I felt better doing something, and just wanted to be proactive and harden up the shells if possible so we could try to prevent any egg eating if we're not home to collect several times a day.Mine eat a ton of grass too, otherwise I cut out the scratch treats(was giving 1 cup to 9 girls daily) I still give them a cut open summer squash, some berries, or watermelon, and the scratch every few days, it was in the 100's all last week!

Well no squishy eggs the last several days but my two barred rocks that were laying well have really slowed down and not giving many eggs. I cut down on treats so they would get more feed and added oyster shell to the feed. Seems to have worked.Super hot here too and hopefully cooling soon.
