I have a broody chicken sitting on eggs it is day 22 and nothing is happening. My broody hen Licorice is a first time mother she is very protective and pecks me like you wouldn't believe is there any way I can stop her fro being so protective? She is also a very small pekin and I am worried she is going to crush her chicks if she does should I take the others out and look after them myself? Or should I leave them with her? PLEASE help me out

I'd leave her alone and let her raise the babies. If she isn't doing well with them once they hatch, then remove them, but it sounds like she'll be a very fierce and protective mother.

Sometimes chicks can take a little longer to hatch than the normal 21 days. I bet they'll hatch soon.

ok well thanks for the advice now I just have to wait

i know but I heard some peeping so fingers crossed

I second the just wait it out advice. 21 days for chickens is like 9 months for humans--some go early, some go late. Just let her do her thing and enjoy her babies.
