It was 9'F last night here in WI, the normal temp this time of the year is 45-50'F, hope it's not a long sub-zero winter like last year.

Since your a nurse what would you suggest keep him inside until healed? Or at least a really good start on it?

I suggest keeping him inside until it has a good start, until you can see the edges starting to come together.

What about treatment going forward?

I would give antibiotics (fishmox) 250mg diluted with water via syringe twice daily for 7 days. Dress wound daily or more if it gets soiled. I would cover with gauze and vet wrap, not tightly (neck). Vet wrap (flex-bandage)is a good covering, it sticks to it's self and helps keep dirt out.

Ducks are such social animals. Any chance a buddy could be brought in for him so he would have some company?

I would think the duck could join his flock. I find it's easier on the animal to not be separated, unless they're contagious. I had a hen with bumble foot and did not separate her, she did just fine.

He inside with me untill he healed ! Temperature have dropped down to 4c and sometime 0c at night so we keep him in ATM
