Help! My duck has a broken leg

I did have a look and it also feels very smooth, not as if there is anything there. I'm pretty convinced it was a car. He has a balder patch at the thigh area too

A miracle he survived if he had an encounter with a car. I hope he makes full recovery. Might want to fence in your ducks to prevent this from happening again. Oh and Epsom salt is also a laxative so don't let your duck drink the water.
Can he put weight on his leg?

He doesn't put weight on his leg, he doesn't try to. There is an animal shelter down the road from us. I might be able to take him there. The vet I spoke about before is on holiday apparently. Typical!

Fencing them in isn't really practical. We live on a farm. Other than putting them in a smaller pen. My birds have always freely roamed the farm. I don't like the idea of puting them in a pen. Seems a bit cruel now. In surprised they got past the gate on the main drive to be honest. I will need to investigate further. I wonder if the post man may have let them past. Probably will never know.

Thanks for the advice

Seems with any animal the grass is always greener on the other side of the road. They may never go there again, but as we all know when letting out animals free range there can always be problems, I hope the shelter will have a look at him, he may heal on his own but for now I'd keep him where he can't walk much just to give the leg time to heal. I'm sure it's painful Then keep doing water therapy to keep the muscle strengthened. Let us know how he is doing please.
