HELP My duck has a hurt leg!

Hello about 8 weeks ago my two duck eggs hatched that I rescued. There mom abandoned them at my neighborhood lake and I incubated them in a homemade incubator. Well recently I have been walking them to my neighborhood lake which is only a short distance from my house. And I decided today to pick one of my ducklings up and he slipped from my hand and feel on the grass. The fall was only 2 1/2 feet from the ground, but yet he is limping. I felt for broken bones and couldn't find any. He can still walk fast and does not seem in much pain he just does not put a lot of pressure on that foot. So does anyone know what's wrong with my ducks foot, and if so what can I do to help him.

Can you see any swelling? it maybe just a bruise or sprain and they take time to heal so limited walking or running to give it time to heal up. Some Epsom salt and warm water soaks can help too.

I found no swelling and I put him in the warm water with Epsom salt. He seems to actually be walking better after I let him rest the night and followed your advice, so thank you.

So, while soaking him in warm water with Epsom salt I was able to figure out he had a bruised part of his leg. So, any idea how long that will take to heal?

It can take a while maybe even a month. Just keep him from over doing.
