Help my forgetful brain

not good ones, lol. That red light in the brooder does not make for ideal photo ops!

I can’t sleep, which means I started reading about these little ones. When we had a flock years ago, it was all heritage breeds. I didn’t know sex links had such short lifespans. It breaks my heart, and it will kill my kids. But what to do? They are ours now and I will take the best care of them that I can. But it makes me so sad.
They're so cute.
I was just talking to someone else about this. Just give them a good quality of life and they will live a longer, and most importantly, a hapoy life

Eh,I currently have a 7 year old sexlink. I don't force them to lay through winter, not sure if that's helped or if she's too strong willed to die. She still lays eggs also, though she's never been one to lay huge eggs.

This makes me feel so much better. Thank you.

We don’t use lights in the winter; I want their bodies to rest. Is that what you meant about forcing it through winter?

I read somewhere else that giving sexlinks a higher quality diet helps longevity, but it wasn’t more specific than that. Do you have any insight on that?
