Help!! My goose is sick.

We have a goose that is about 2 months old. She has started breathing out her beak, sneezing, and shaking her head. We do not have any vets around who care for geese so does anyone know what I can do for her.

Does she have water deep enough to submerge her beak into? She may just have something lodged in one of her nares and is trying to clear it.

Yes, we checked to see if we can see something. She doesn't act like she feels good.

I'd recommend giving her some electrolytes and keeping her warm. It's really hard to know what could be wrong, even in person and not on the internet. I hope she's feeling better by the morning.

I'm sorry to hear that. I agree with "the water deep enough to submerge her beak". Water fowl regularly dip their heads to clean their eyes & nostrils (if that's what they're called). This is crucial to good health (from what I've read) I have 25 ducks & 5 geese all of which are over 3 yrs of age. They have many types of water containers in addition to 2 of the largest one piece kiddy pools...(10) 5 gallon buckets & 10 large black trays. This water gets changed daily & sometimes more often. Twice weekly I add Apple Cider vinegar to their water...a big splash in the trays & buckets & probably at least a quart of it to each large pool. Vinegar is good for a lot of things but it also kills germs/bacteria (I read this too) I'm no authority on water fowl health care but this seems to have kept everyone healthy. Water fowl HAVE to have access to clean water, to drink & to dip their beaks/heads in. They put their beak down in the water in a scooping motion bringing the water up over the tops of their beaks & across their eyes & they will repeat this action several times in a row.

i also would add some organic apple cider vinegar to the water buckets . Braggs is a good brand. it needs to be organic and say "with the mother " this has all the good stuff in it . this could help clear out an infection.

Right. Organic is always good if you can find it. It's also good for any animal & humans.
