So I have never encountered an eggbound hen before but have heard about it. I think this may be the case for my Brahma but realized it too late. I've been giving her Tylan50 for the last few days thinking that may help. When it didn't I did more research and came up with eggbound hen. It may be too late but I've been soaking her in warm water with Epson salt. She does not have the energy to dislodge it so I got some petroleum jelly and put it on her vent and my finger. I put it in about an inch but didn't feel an egg, however about a tablespoon of this yellow stuff came out with some a minimal amount of grit. I'm not sure what to do now....

Please help her and I if possible, thanks

I'm going to take her in the morning.....it's so awful to think I didn't know about this issue sooner!

Okay... did you notice any “shell” material? In the yolk that came out?
In looking around did see any evidence of shell?
If she’s got shards of broken shell inside her you need to be very careful in trying to remove it as not to rip her with any fragments. Do you have any one to help hold with you? Are you willing to try and clean her out?
Also IMO lubricant is much better than heavy Vaseline (but in emergency it’ll work)

I had searched in there but did not feel anything sharp or any pieces... only a little bit of tiny grit that came out with the yellow liquid. I have put her back in the coop in a dog crate with her fellow siblings following her bath.

You might want to continue to soak her in a warm bath. If she were mine I’d continue to check her vent (get some lubricant) it’s slicker and easier to feel with. Watch her make sure she drinks and eats. I’m sure she’s not the first and for sure not the last hen to have this happen. So many go through this without the owner even noticing...so good job on your part. Yours have a good owner(mommy). It’s a scary thing I know. Sometimes I have to tell myself chickens have been laying eggs (and recovering) on their own since Forever! I hope all works out for you both. I’ll say a little prayer for ya. Keep us posted ok?
PS...be sure to get her good and dry too! (Got a blow dryer?)
