I have 2 buff orpingtons, one neing a rooster and the other a hen. I also have 4 golden comets, all hens. I got them as babies the end of March.
My rooster is very friendly and eats gently out of my hand, along with the others in the past week the buff orpington hen has gotten mean with me. She bites my hand hard, amd pecks at my feet amd legs! Any one have an idea why she would suddenly turn on me? She also pushed down one of the others hens who were eating out of my other, by stepping on her back.

Well, sometimes...chickens can just be..... mean. Could be the time of day, the heat, or because the sun is in the right position. But it sounds like shes top dog, and letting you know it! When she pecks you, take you fore finger and thumb and very quickly, tap her on the back of the head. Not to hurt her... but get her attention. She will quit. You are just telling her to stop... you wont hurt her at all.

Had a baby rooster try this on me. A quick flick to the beak as described and he hasn't done it since.

Here she is
