I thought my hen had a broken leg but I'm not so sure about that now. Her leg is curles under her and when she trys to walk she cant because she want straighten her toes out. I would post a pic but she want let me touch her enough to get a good pic. I put her in a seperate cage, but I dont know if she is going to make it because she stoped walking completley. As of right now the other foot is okay and she is using her wings to balance (even though she fails) Please help I love her!!!

I'm sure someone else will offer more advice but for now I'll try to help. Keeping her in a separate cage is good

if you can give her a little extra heat that would be good. Also, maybe a little scrambled egg or yogurt for a little extra protien and calcium. Hopefully she will calm down enough to let you get a better look t her foot with some pics.

Poor baby! Was she dragging that foot before is why you first thought it was a break or what was she doing? Did you find any visual injury to that leg? Sometimes after an injury, maybe jumping off something and jambing that leg for example, they just need a quiet place to settle down and a bit of time to mend. I had one do that to me, sat in a corner and wouldn't move. If she did, she really hobbled. It took a couple of days before she showed improvement. Sorry I can't be more helpful. I'm not sure what the curled foot means. Maybe someone else can help.

I had a hen that hurt her foot I dont know for sure how but I put her in a cage for about a week where she couldnt do alot of walking. She was dragging her foot and her toes were kind of curled too. I soaked her foot once a day in warm epsom salt water, make sure she doesnt drink any of it. And after a week she was fine. Hoping that is all thats wrong with yours and some time will heal her.

I presently have a girl in a crate recovering from an injury to her leg too. I have no idea what happened but she was unable to put any weight on it for the first couple of weeks. She too used her wings to balance. We are now on week 3+ and she's doing much better but still isn't quite her old self. She will venture out of the crate when I am there with her for a short while but always returns on her own to her safe spot so that I can lock her away from the 2 roos that are in with the hens. Hopefully she will be fine given some time.
