So I’ve maintained a pretty steady temperature and humidity levels on my bobwhite quail for the first 20 day’s and they were moving and growing as they should but on day 20 for lockdown I wasn’t sure how much water to add to the channels and I tried to cover up as much surface area as I could and now the humidity is at 90 and I don’t want to open up the incubator because they’re on lockdown!!!!! I’m scared I might have killed my quail on the last few days! Btw this is my first time incubating eggs. So I’m open to any feedback and I yet still have a lot to learn. Thanks!!!

No they haven’t. I’m on day 22. They’re bobwhites so I know they should start hatch on the 23rd and 24th day. How far should open it up?

Just get the humidity down. Open it some. Get the humidity down to 65-70%.

If it's a cheap Chinese incubator trying to get the humidity correct by filling the channels is next to impossible. Don't panic. Mop it ALL up and stand a small container of water in there. 2 expresso cups would probably do it (covered with wire to protect chicks if you have some). I'm guessing about the size of your incubator, but you get the idea.
Of course you know you should have done a dry run, to dial in the humidity.
Good luck.

For future reference especially newbies, with the too much touch
Use damp paper towles or a new sponge to add moisture.
No big spikes ,slow and steady.:)
x2! Just don't wrap the eggs in wet paper towels, it chills the chick too much, even if they're warm towels.
