Help: My Little Rooster Is Torn Up :(

Now I know what the spots are.... Is there frost in your area? Maybe they're curling up from the cold, like flowers do.....

It hasn't snowed since the day after Christmas and had been in the late 40s this whole week

But, it is supposed to snow on Sunay. I'll make sure he's all cozied up by then

How badly is he injuried? Sometimes a little small nick on his comb and the rooster is covered in blood.. Have had this happen with Kernal and he was just COVERED in blood but just from a small scratch on his comb.

Looks like this little guy has been on the bottom of the pecking order for awhile. You may either have to keep them seperate or find a new home for one or the other of them. Sometimes roo's just can't or wont make nice.
Good luck

Thanks everyone.

So, I've kept him separated and later today I'm taking him to the house to clean him up a little. The blood is dried and he looks much better now that he isn't fighting all of the time. I will be auctioning off the rooster that is fighting with him, and two others tomorrow night, so I'll have nothing to worry about!

If I see my roosters fighting 'badly' , I break them up- not just watch. Some bickering roosters will fight until one is proven dominant, some will badly injure the other. If I think one is going to be badly injured, not just put in a hierarchy, I will remove one or the other permanently. I have 5+ roosters free ranging together- and I only keep less aggressive roosters- I need them to get along. That aside, if I find an injured rooster from fighting like they will do occasionally- I will cut or pluck the feathers from the injury so I can clean it & see how big it is. Most injuries are comb and wattles, but they can spur each other in the chest or elsewhere. Things will heal faster if the feathers are out of the wound. The black flecks on his comb & wattles are probably a combination of blood splashes & scabs. As tissue heals, it can contract and scar down- which may be happening to the edges of his comb/wattles. If blood circulation was cut off due to trauma, the tissue will turn black and shrivel up. If you value his looks- don't let him fight. Nice ASPCA crate....

Good for you Louies owner, I have 2 roos father and son and all is well here son just stays out of daddys way. When we have more than 2 it's utter crazyness.
