I have one lone buff orp. that is trying to hatch. He pipped through yesterday morning and worked a very little all day and night. He has his little beak out but that is all to be seen. I can't hear him chirpping anymore either? What should I do? Is he ok ya think? I know that you're not supposed to "help" them. I'm saying my prayers! This is my little classroom hatch and I'm praying for him to make it for my sake and my kiddos!

My Little maran was pipping yesterday when I came home from work about 4:00pm yesterday, he hatched at 5:00am this morning I got to watch, thats over 12 hours. Just cheer it on. I talk to mine and encourage them "GO LITTLE BABY YOU CAN DO IT PUSH" over and over. LOL Oh it only works if you use a crazy little baby chickie voice try it.
p.s. dont get caught by anyone because they will look at you, knowing you are the crazy chicken person, they though

some times it just take some longer, i would take a warm damp cloth and keep the area where the chick has pipped form and keep it moist the white paper looking stuff, you dont want to get water in the baby's beak.
just keep making a peep noisy so it can here you,

if it doesn't hatch out by tonight, you may want to help it,

hopefully some one will get on here to help you with that, and when you should intervene
