HELP! my mother hen, just hatched her babies WHAT do I do now?

Curiously, I have found that raising a batch of babies ups her standing in the pecking order... she is bolder in the defense of her babies!
The first time she is released with the flock w/the babies just keep an eye on her to make sure she is handling the attention and babies all right (not being distracted).
At the end of her free time out w/the babies let her go back to her separate area... after she feels good about it, she will decide to go into the big coop @ night with the babies (usually after a couple of weeks).

mine raised hers up just fine in the coop and free ranging with the others, they know when the babies are cold and will stop and sit on them to warm em up. I fenced them off in the coop for about 4 days then took the fence out. she will protect them. mom will decide when they are old enough to fend for themselves. I would not take them away from her at any age. she will know when they are ok to go without her. dont stress, chickens have survived all this time without us as well as with us meddling. she will get it right.

I am over the moon myself this morning... my count was off, I expected mine to start hatching Thursday but I woke up to at least 11 this morning

My broody is very protective as well and I will have to wait for her to leave the nest to get an accurate count. YAY for baby chicks!

Mainly keep them seperated, and food water etc. I made the mistake of leaving my new chickens in with the flock all the time. We had one chicken hatch and we are still waiting on more, but it got chased and killed by the rest of the flock. Buried it this morning. Had no idea they would attack it, so don't risk it.
