I have a chick that just finished hatching a few hours ago and it looks like she cannot pull her leg under her so she can try to sit up. Can i touch her and try to help her. What should I do. I'm new to hatching this is just my second hatchling.

Look at the avatar photo on my account. That hen has spraddle leg and you need to read up on it.
There are many threads here at BYC about fixing spraddle leg. for now put it on wire mesh or something very rough.

hi thank you for your reply, i had read up on spraddle leg, this was not it. it turned out to be curled foot. i made her some shoes and shes started to do fine but then I lost her because i put water in for her and my waterer malfunctioned and filled up to much and she drown in it.
so sad.

But since then I hatched more chicks and one of those does have spraddle leg. I have had her bandaged since day 2.5 ( i would have sooner but I was out of town) I know you have to get this early. Unfortunately I think it may be too late. Her feet are red and swollen now. I read about bumble foot and i don't think that's it. I checked that the bandage is not too tight, that's not it either. I have posted on several threads but have not had a response except for yours. I soaked her feet earlier tonight in salt water because i thought they were draining yellow fluid. I am giving her electrolyte and vitamin supplement. I don't know why her feet are so swollen, all i've read infection seems the most likely, that is why I soaked them. her joints are swollen also and she cannot stand, poor thing. shes a strong chick and is eating and drinking. I was afraid she might not make it through the night but she seems strong so far. Any help is appreciated

Sorry for you loss ... bandage may be too tight (?) It's not bumble foot, what kind of vitamin & dose? Never seen anything like that but others may have ... @azygous @dawg53 @Wyorp Rock @Kiki Thank you for your input

CTP (curly toe paralysis) is a Vitamin B2 deficiency; sandals work along with Vitamin B2. I've used (infant) PolyVisol without the iron a drop 3x day, along with boiled egg yolk with water & feed (chick starter). Took 2wks to work it's wonders.

Hi stranger!!! :hugs
I'm not sure if that lady is going to respond to you because she posted this about 7 years ago.

Yes, it's been awhile ... Gave up my chickens last April, however just acquired 2 Serama Mixes earlier this month, adding a single hatch Serama this week to the household.

Notice down below that box of threads is labeled similar threads...it's new and it changes based on which particular thread you're viewing.

I can't wait to see pictures of your new babies.
