I have 2 pekin ducks that were born approx the first weekend of April. I let them in the bath tub for just a bit and when they got wet I began to notice their wings were very red! Some hair loss in spots.. They are pretty big right now. Only thing I can think of is that **** Heat lamp! I let them dry from their quick swim in the bathroom... Removed the Heat lamp and moved them from my garage to my heated basement with no lamp. Is this a good idea? Other than what they look like right now (which is rough) they are acting fine! i turned the basement light off but left the light at the top of the stairs on, Got into bed to only hear them screaming.. Got up turned the basement light on.. And went back to lay down- quiet. Still can't sleep, checking on them constantly. They are laying next to each other nodding off. Don't seem cold... I'm just worried! First timer on this duck business. Iv bothered all my other duck friends already lol

Do you know the temp in your basement is? if they are cuddling normal not laying on top of each other they are probably fine at around 3 weeks old they should have temps around 75* with not draft. might leave a night light on for them being so young they are most likely scared. You sound like a worried mom which is normal. Pics when you can and

For some reason my photo will not load. They seemed happy and plenty warm in the basement. I had a wet dog this morning that had to go in his crate (I was late for work) so I turned the heat up just a little more so the pup won't get chilly. So they will have some extra heat today. Thanks so much for everyone's advice! Hopefully it's just them losing their down. I wish our weather would cooperate so I can get them outside a little more!
