Ok!We have a call into a neighbor who raises poultry as well, maybe he will have some
Is it normal for them to resist eating and drinking? She will drink but then then she pulls back. Also, is it normal that she barely opens her eyes. She will but for the most part keeps them closed
She's probably not eating and drinking because she can't due to her neck.Is it normal for them to resist eating and drinking? She will drink but then then she pulls back. Also, is it normal that she barely opens her eyes. She will but for the most part keeps them closed
She is six monthsShe's probably not eating and drinking because she can't due to her neck.
I'm not sure about keeping the eye closed.
Check her crop early in the morning before she eats or drinks anything and see if it empties.
How old is she?
Any blood in her droppings? She is six months
She was fine yesterday. She is standing but her head is drooping and limp, but she is not turned and looking up (like the descriptions of wry neck). She is not labored breathing. Just standing with her neck limp and eyes closed. If you touch her she moves but not much. No noticeable discharge.
She may be resisting since she's drooling, could be her crop is too full of fluid or liquids are not going down and she's choking. Can it be wry neck if she is just drooling like a ostrich trying to bury it’s head? She will drink if we put her beak near water but she isn’t opening her eyes like she was an hour ago. She is breathing regularly.
It would be really hard to say, they range free in our yard and we have 30-something birds.Any blood in her droppings?
That was supposed to say drooping. I checked her and her crop is empty. She may be resisting since she's drooling, could be her crop is too full of fluid or liquids are not going down and she's choking.
I'd try to get the vitamins into her if possible.
Could she have suffered any trauma to head?
