HELP MY RHODE ISLAND RED HAS BEEN ATTACKED BY A HAWK IM DESPERATE HAS A PALE FACE

this is her
Clean and flush out wounds with a diluted peroxide solution initially(NOT AROUND EYE),then clean daily with a saline solution. Apply an antibiotic ointment(nothing ending in "caine/cane"toxic to chickens. you can also purchase Vetericyn, excellent wound care, can also be placed on face/eyes. Leave wounds uncovered, watch for flies(maggots)keep her separated from other chickens, keep her inside home, make sure she is kept warm. When chickens are ill/injured they cannot regulate their body temp, this is why additional heat is required. What is the issue with her beak? Is it cracked or is she sitting with beak open? If she is sitting with beak open,it is probably from shock/stress or is there damage around beak area? Is her eye damaged or is damage around eye? Give her aspirin for pain, baby aspirin 81mg or a regular 325mg aspirin, dose is 25mg per lb of body weight, crush and place in water(my preference)or sprinkle over feed. Make sure she drinks. Have you given her any electrolytes for shock,if not give her some.

How long has it been since she last ate? Is she drinking? Explain standing around,is she interacting at all with her surroundings? She may have internal injuries or she may be in pain. Are you providing additional heat, have you given any electrolytes or aspirin?

As for eating, sometimes they will start to eat on there own, often they have to be tube fed in order for them to start eating again, every bird is different. Either way if she doesn't start to eat in the next day or so,she will have to be tube fed, otherwise their body starts to shut down and they die. Birds require constant supply of food to fuel their high metabolism/body to function,no food and they become lethargic and go into sleep mode trying to conserve energy. Once energy is depleted, they usually die.

Sorry to hear this, if it is any help, I had a chicken attacked by 2 dogs. There were more feathers on the ground than on the chicken. They had seriously damaged one wing, had torn the parsons nose off completely, and the skin on the top of one wing and side and the length of its neck were missing. The bone on the top of its wing was showing. I was devastated and panicking. I brought the chicken into the kitchen and put it in a large basket with newspaper and kitchen towel covering the floor. I was as sure as I could be that it would die. It was hardly able to move for a couple of days, I didn't force feed it, but did spend a lot of time tempting it with all sorts. There were good days and bad - and I was stuck between giving it the best chance or putting it out of its misery. After 2 weeks it started to 'come round' and has gone from strength to strength. It still has a bald patch on the top of its wing, but there are signs of re feathering (hard to believe when there is no skin) Its neck is still quite bald, but amazingly the flap under its ear has attached itself to the neck, and so that is what is forming the new skin.
Funniest part - my colourful little chicken has grown into a cocky rooster - we all have to learn huh? His neck on one side resembles a pipe cleaner, his tail is 'not quite right' but he can't see it!
Hope things turn out as well for you.

Forgot to add - I washed the wounds with warm salt water and I gave him children's liquid paracetamol, easier to administer than tablets.

I don't know if she will make it I relized today that she is blind in one eye and her ear is practally torn off.she tried to eat and she missed the bowl by a few inches. Her poo is abnormally colored sorta like a greenish yellow.its pretty much diarrhea and she can't see can chickens be blind in one eye and learn to adapt?my brother suggested showing her her old flock and she tried being friendly and they ran away from her and picked on her.i am trying to make her eat I know she wants to but she can't see the food dish properly and so she miss calculates and falls short of the food I feel soooo bad and don't know if there is anything I can do to help her.she is by herself on the back room.we have neosporn on her cuts and wounds.she is depressed and she is trying to fly around but can't make it b/c of her eye.:(
