My silkie cant drink water when she does it just falls back out becauseshe is not tilting her head back. It seems like maybe something is wrong with her neck? When she is sitting on her eggs she leaves her head down.

She is in a broody coma?

If your silkie is broody it is easy for them to become deficient in proper nutrients. Try hand feeding her some canned corn. Add some ACV to her water for a boost. You can also use some liquid baby vitamins without iron and give a few drops for a couple days to get her back on track.

Thanks MissPrissy. I noticed this characteristic also. Had a broody Samatra hen that I finally had to take her off the eggs. She was on them for 25 days and I know they would not hatch for her. i think she laid a clutch in the freezing temps.

I had to pick her up set her by the feeder. I put starter in and she eventually ate and drank. It was a wierd thing, I guess the hens just do this.

Yes she is broody she eats and drinks good except when she drinks water she does not put her head back the water just falls back out.
