My 5 month white silkie doesn't go in the coop because I don't think she can see to get in it. I have been moving her in there at night though and she is usually fine. I went out this morning at 7:30 she looked like she was standing in the same spot as I left her last night. I came back at 11:30 and she looked like she hadnt moved an inch. I brought her in a put her in a big box with food and water cause I knew she hadn't eaten since last night since she didnt leave the coop. She just leaned over and rested her head in the food. She is now just in my lap. I'm trying to give her sugar water through a syringe but she doesn't like it. Whats wrong?

What is egg bound and could she have it? She hasn't laid yet and is 23 weeks.

poor baby! I wish I knew what was wrong! hopefully someone can help. is there ANY other symptoms at all that you can see? how is her breathing? how is her stool? any noises when she breathes. look listen and feel for any other symptoms at all. coccidosis can cause sleepiness lethargic and ruffled feathers . that's the only thing that comes to mind. if that's the case you can treat with corid in her water and you might have to administer it with a dropper being she's not drinking. you CAN have coccidosis without having bloody poo so take a look at coccidosis online and see if you think its a possibility? poor baby I hope she gets well! hope this helps some. its just a guess here.

Thank you realsis I will look that up. She doesn't seem to keep her eyes open really even when she is up for a minute. She only has pooped once since I brought her in and it was white and diarrhea ish. She sometimes sits up and kind of pants like she is hot.

this is her the last 30 min. She moves when it gets loud but that's it.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but your bird looks very sick and is probably dehydrated and *maybe* hypothermic. Are her feet and legs cold or warm to the touch? Can you tube feed?

I would put her in a warm bath for at least 15 minutes, and try to see if you can feel an egg in her vent. If she is panting, white diarrhea (the urates passing around an egg), and time to lay, she could have a large egg to pass. They can pant from pain.

I don't know what is wrong, but if it were my hen I'd try the warm bath and manual examination of the vent. I'd use a glove and lubricate with some cooking oil.

If this isn't the problem then I am sorry I don't know how else to help.

*Make sure you blow her dry or she could become very chilled and die in her state.*

I think a bath will kill her, so if you want to rule out egg problems, why not just put on a glove, get some KY Jelly and check for an egg that way? Much safer for the bird and very easy to do.
