Wed one of my silkie roosters lay down and wouldn't get up, we noticed little bugs all over him so we treated everything, the yard the Coop the birds, i changed all bedding, bleached everything, sprayed with pymethryn, put pour on ivermectin on all birds, used poultry dust in bedding, he died the next day. now today one of the hens is dead, they are 5 months old any ideas? I don't want to lose rest they seemed he althy

Look up Poultry Mites and Lice. Make sure you haven't overmedicated. They can get anemia if they are too infested, and once the adult parasites are killed, you have to treat again later on to kill the nits. Your flock may need some extra nutrients to get back on their feet. Good luck!

Did they show any neurological or respiratory symptoms? How did their poop look like?

I don't think I over medicated I did look up poultry lice and mites what kind of nutrients should I give them how do I know if they see
anemic I have poly vi sol without iron I'm going to give them that, anything else?

Not sure on anemia, pale skin & wattles maybe? Have to search forum. Poly vi sol should be good. I think I also read Pedialyte in small amounts. Somewhere in the forum was a recipe that included yogurt, honey, egg, and ground oatmeal which was supposed to boost health, but I don't remember all the ingredients.

Mites can kill chickens. There are also mites that just reside in the coop and feed at night, so make sure you retreat the coop every week and throw out all bedding every week until the bugs are gone. (See below about retreating the chickens every week.)

Make sure you retreat the chickens every week until they are gone. That way you kill the ones that hatch out from eggs. If it was lice, the nits can be dissolved with coconut oil I have read on BYC (after the bugs are dead).

Worms can also kill chickens, so you might consider taking a poo sample in to a vet for a fecal float to check for worms, or considering worms.

The medications and treatments you gave likely will save the rest of your flock if the problem was indeed mites- don't be afraid to treat those things- they can be deadly.

Signs of anemia would include lethargy and pale combs, but these are not always seen with mite infestations...they take their toll regardless.

try to give them gentamycin antibiotic and b complex vitamin through injection for 5 days. then put them in individual cages.try to observe them for the whole 5 days maybe its a bacterial disease infecting your flocks.better be sure than sorry.and if ever they recover you can delouse them by giving them a bath with delousing shampoo just like in dogs and subcutaneously give them injection with ivermectin injectable.and you should provide them with water with electrolytes for anti stress.

they don't have any signs of lethargy, the roosters comb is not pale. I did put them on some anti biotics and vitamins that I bought for birds, and last night my mom gave them each two drops polyvisol directly in their mouth, I don't have any experience giving injections to birds yet, this is hard because I'm out of town until next tuesday so my mom is doing it all for me. I am also going to have her give them a little oatmeal and yogurt today, I know birds are good at hiding it but none of them seem sick at all, thank you all for your feedback

q tip the rooster that died didn't seem to move his head a bit funny after he got sick, he had some light yellow poop on him that we washed off when we bathed him to try to get the bugs off. his bedd was also wet the next morning like water was in it I don't know if he vomit it up water or what that was. they hen that died yesterday I didn't see her because I was out of town but my mom said she was running around fine in the morning
