My kids and husband eat all the pizza but we do give them the ‘bones’ or crusts that my son refuses to eat...but we have pizza only a couple times a month. They also get toast crusts and small bread pieces in the scraps occasionally, but they free range on grass and are fed organic layer feed that makes up most of their diet. I have been known to toss an occasional tortilla chip in their bucket as well, but def in small amounts and in moderation. They actually leave most of the bread and eat all the meat and veggie scraps, rice and oatmeal first! They do get an occasional apple, pear, grape or blueberry too...;)

When my husband slaughters rabbits (yes, we raise & eat our rabbits), he tosses them errant pieces of fat, & holy moly do they go crazy for it...also go nutty for dry cat food, baby rats from nests we have dug up, & of course any leftover fruits &/or veggies. But
processed human food? Nope. Not good for humans not good for them. Whats next? A bucket of Popeye’s?

Can someone please help me convince her that it's okay for the girls to have fun table scraps?

Everything in moderation right?!

EDIT: Our girls usually get much smaller quantities of veggie scraps, but this was a couple of weeks ago on New Years Day and all the girls were fine 🙃

People are going to run around like their hair is on fire and tell you to never feed table scraps to your chickens but I've got to be honest with you, my girls get table scraps all the time. Mind you, their main food is a healthy layer feed supplemented with meal worms but they get the scraps as an enrichment. My girls are all really healthy, lay frequently, and lay huge eggs. The eggs are often too big for the egg carton. One chicken lays a monster double yolker every day!

Does not hurt them at all. In the pasture they eat things long dead and much worse, like tons of field mice babies, dead birds etc. They are chickens, not your children. Live wild and vicariously through them. Pizza Party On!

Mine get almost anything including pizza. But no raw onions, citrus, uncooked beans, uncooked potato skins, and anything moldy. Plus there's a few more no go foods not allowed. I have about 50 chickens, 14 ducks and 4 guineas that share the treats. Moderation is the key and I don't give treats in the first half of the day so they fill up on layer pellets first, they get treats only a few hours before roost time.

My ducks and a few of my chickens.

Oh, and their guard dogs next door.
