This chick pipped yesterday late afternoon/early evening. When we came back from dinner -- around 8:30 pm? -- the egg looked it was progressing, but like it was starting to zip on the underside.

This morning (now day 22) the two rowdy chicks that had already hatched knocked the egg so that I can see the progress better, and it looks like things are drying (there is a bit of shell on the side of the egg that looks dried/stuck -- makes me thing things are drying inside). It's now almost 8:30 am.

Should I assist? There is a second hatch in the incubator and today is day 21 for them; I'm not sure how to handle this.

If u expect more pips today, but have none yet..... I would go ahead and help. I would help because it looks like his membrane is starting to turn tan and he hasn't really progressed is over 12 hours. Don't go on just my word though, I have assisted a total of 3 babies. I waited too late and lost a fourth. Good luck with however you decide to handle it. :)

*sigh* It was dry. This little guy didn't make it.

Thanks for your advice. It gave me the courage to check. Also, the chance to move to two rowdies to the brooder. *fingers crossed for the rest of the hatch!*
