    KennyP In the Brooder

Broody mom just hatched one baby. They are in a nesting box about 4 feet off the ground also in the coop with all the other flock. We know we need to move them to a separate area but is it safe to move while she is still sitting on the other eggs? How long will the baby be ok without food and water? We have the box blocked off where the baby can't get out right now. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated

the chicks can suvive for 3 days, but i usually put some water and feed after the first couple chicks are born, and the hen usually eats and teaches the chicks to eat and drink while she is still laying on the other eggs. then after 3 days if she is not out of the nest i take her out, but i only did that 1 time the other times they got up on their own.
