HELP!! Need chicken-safe slug deterrent!

Our ducks love slugs, so I would say ducks would be safe for the chickens. Some duck breeds are better foragers, so check your breeds before you go this route. If you do not have any ducks, they are fun. We have some ducks and two chickens. Our ducks definitely out forage our chickens. Hopefully you found a solution or will find the right one

Crushed egg shells work pretty good. I dry them and crush them down in a coffee can and spread them around plants. They stick to the slug slime and pierce the skin. I't not perfect but it also adds nice calcium to the soil. I also put a ring of pennies around my planters.
In the spring... early.... use one part amonia with 10 parts water and douse rocks and places where slugs shelter. This is very effective in getting rid of eggs.
My mom lays boards in her garden and just lifts them daily and removes the slugs.

Here in the east we have reasonable slugs mostly but I know those west coast ones can slime your whole shoe if you happen to step on one, yuch

I use organic slug pellets, Growing Success brand, they are supposed to be animal/wildlife friendly and are iron based ferric phosphate. Don't know if they are available outside UK? Have also heard that coffee grounds make a good barrier, I once saw bags of them being given away in a branch of Starbucks for garden use. Another one i haven't tried is a barrier of hair cuttings, maybe you know a friendly hairdresser who could donate some although it wouldn't look very attractive!

You can crush up eggshells ... they will cut the slugs when they move over the shells

Our muscovys and guineas love slugs. The chickens don't seem to care for them. Muscovys are good for a lot of pests. I've seen them eating everything from mosquito larvae from the pond to toads in the yard.

We have muscovy ducks! They eat anything that's creepy crawly!

I don''t know if they would if the slugs are 8-9 inches long, but they will!
