Help needed! Dont know whats wrong with my chicken?

Ive had my 4 girls a week now and theyve seemed fine. Over the past couple of days one has seemed to go really funny. She hasnt layed an egg yet but is looking very fat. She doesnt come to food like the other 3 but just sits away from the rest and makes sounds like growling?

Im worried please help!

It is possible she may be eggbound--you really need to examine her vent to see if everything looks (and feels) okay. Eggbound means she is not passing the egg, that it is getting lodged, usually near the opening but could be further up. This may require a gentle lubricated finger insertion to see if there is any sort of blockage--egg or otherwise. Try not to break an egg while it is in the hen--the sharp edges can do damage. Search "eggbound" here for lots of good advice if that is the problem.

And if it is not that, it could be a disease issue (Growling? Don't know what that is about.) You might want to quarantine her, both for her own sake and to prevent the others from getting ill. Is there anyone "chicken savvy" in your area who could take a look at her? Birds go downhill very quickly, so a rapid diagnosis and treatment are your best bet for helping her. Good luck!
