Good luck with all that. Have you spoken with the neighbor about using theirs a wee bit longer. In other news, I am about to embark upon the journey of DIY incubator, because those 8 eggs from the abandoned broody nest have veins, I think. I have been trying to get the electric blanket and cooler to work all day, wow is it hard to keep the temp right. I was hopeful low would just hang out there, but it seems low is 90, med is 101, and high 110.
Next plan involves a thermostat regulator hubby agreed on bring home, and either using that with the electric blanket/cooler, or using the crockpot method i found on here (which is probably more safe, but also terrifying)
Have you checked out the "Articles" section? There are several homemade incubators in there. https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/categories/incubators-brooders.27/In other news, I am about to embark upon the journey of DIY incubator, because those 8 eggs from the abandoned broody nest have veins, I think.
